Emrick Jagneaux - Head Coach

jagneauxEmrick Jagneaux served the students of Houston ISD’s Westside High School during the past eight years, earning an overall record of 186-61.  His teams reached the play-offs in seven of his eight years at Westside, including a victory over the defending state champion Cy Fair High School team and a trip to the regional finals in 2008 as well as the district championship in 2003, 2005, and 2006.

 

Prior to joining Westside’s staff, Jagneaux was a collegiate coach for 14 years.  During that time, he was an assistant coach at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Wharton County Junior College, and Lamar University.  His accomplishments at the collegiate level include four conference championships and four regional bids while coaching at the University of Southwestern Louisiana.  Many of his players were drafted into professional baseball.

 

Before his career as a college coach, Jagneaux coached for 12 years at the high school level during which he lead teams to one state 5A championship and six district championships.  He was named district coach of the year in 1979, 1983, 2002, and 2006 and was named assistant coach of the year in 1988 and 1990 while a member of the University of Southwestern Louisiana staff.

 

In 1973, Jagneaux earned his bachelor of science degree in health, physical fitness, and history from Lamar University.  While a student at Lamar, Jagneaux also played baseball and led the team in home runs during his senior year.  He is a graduate of Nederland High School in Nederland, where he was a three-time all-district player and two-time district most valuable player.

 

Jagneaux and his wife of 36 years, Cheryl, have two sons, Cory and Chad.

Fourth Season at Deer Park

Hometown: Fredericksburg, Texas

College: Angelo State University 1989

Darren Schneider begins his sixth year with the Deer, his fourth as Varsity Assistant. Darren graduated in 1983 from Fredericksburg High School. Coach Schneider played baseball and football at Texas Lutheran University before graduating from Angelo State University in 1989. Before coaching at Deer Park, Coach Schneider was Head Baseball Coach at Lake Travis High School in Austin where he took his team to the Regional Semifinals in 1997 and the Area Finals in 1999.


Coach Schneider and his wife, Heather, have two beautiful daughters, Anna, and Jillian, ages 4 and 2. In addition to Varsity Assistant duties, CoachSchneider also teaches Health at the Freshman Campus.
